    European Council to discuss the case of perpetrator Safarov

    YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS: European Parliament is to discuss
    the case of murderer Ramil Safarov during the plenary session on
    September 10. As Armenpress reports citing the official web site of
    European Parliament Safarov's extradition and pardon are to be
    discussed in the block of human rights, democracy and the rule of law
    on September 13. It is planned to adopt a resolution.

    Azeri perpetrator Ramil Safarov hacked Armenian officer Gurgen
    Margaryan with an axe during the training courses organized by NATO in
    Budapest on February 19. 2004. Safarov was sentenced to a life
    imprisonment without the right of granting clemency in first 30 years.
    Safarov was transferred to Azerbaijani on August 31 and granted
    amnesty immediately by his country. Armenia suspended its diplomatic
    relations with Hungary. Azerbaijan has deceived Hungary and broken its
    written promise to keep the murderer in prison after Safarov's
    extradition to Azerbaijan. The President of European Parliament Martin
    Schulz is also concerned about the extradition and amnesty granting of
    Safarov.
