The stir that is being raised over the Prosperous Armenia party is
a farce, a show organized by both the government and the opposition,
Director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies
Manvel Sargsyan told journalists on Monday.
He said that no matter what Prosperous Armenia will do during the
coming presidential election - nominate its own candidate or support
President Sargsyan - its role is being artificially exaggerated.
In Sargsyan's opinion, the Armenian political elite is no longer
efficient, and Prosperous Armenia is a kind of a safety belt for both
the regime and the opposition, a force both of them want to pass the
buck on.
"They are unable to decide - everybody is waiting what Gagik Tsarukyan
will say, and once he does, they either start criticizing or praising
him. But the reality is that Tsarukyan says only what some other people
tell him to say. In fact, one force is trying to solve its own problems
with the hands of another one. This is a very dangerous symptom,
a signal that our political system is paralyzed," Sargsyan said.
