Russian chess federation board chairman Ilya Levitov commented on
the results of Chess Olympiad.
"Russia seemed to have been celebrating the final victory after
defeating main opponents. However, it lost to the US national in
the 9th round and fell short of expectations. Russian and Armenian
nationals met in the 6th round and Russia's Vladimir Kramnik defeated
Armenia's Levon Aronian.
At the same time, the other Armenian players were lower in the ranking
than the Russian players, but they succeeded to win due to strong team
spirit. It was the team spirit that led the Armenians to victory in
the three out of four recent Olympiads," Kommersant quoted Levitov.
