NUMBER OF DEALS VIA BANKING CARDS INCREASES IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN. - The number of banking card deals increased by 78 percent
in Armenia during the first six months of the year, head of the Union
of Banks of Armenia Ashot Osipyan told the journalists on Friday.
The main part of card deals, 76 percent, is realized via ATMs (AMD
313.3 billion, increase by 23 percent). Deals via POS terminals made
22 percent or AMD 909 billion (increase by 33 percent).
Cash transactions made over 10 percent from overall deals, while the
volumes of cash and banking card deals made AMD 373.1 billion and
39.9 billion respectively for the first half of this year.
Transaction deals increased for all banking cards, including ArCa (by
23 percent), Visa (by 30 percent), and MasterCard (by 43 percent). At
the same time, deals with other banking card types made AMD 31.2
billion.
