YEREVAN. - In line with data publicized by the Armenian General
Department of Civil Aviation, close to 59,000 airplane passengers
have left from and not returned to Armenia in the first eight months
of this year, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.
"In the same time period last year, the number of those who left and
not returned via airplane was around 62,000.
It is apparent that the reduction by 3,000 of the number of those
left and not returned via airplane is conditioned on the fact that
about 5,000 Syrian Armenians have come to Armenia.
In addition, the overwhelming majority of those people heading to
Russia prefer to leave on buses, which is eight to nine times cheaper.
[But] The real picture will become clear once the information on those
who left and arrived with all means of transport is made public,"
Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
