Ilham Aliyev
Our relations are diversified. They cover all spheres. We try to
address all issues in all spheres, and address them timely.
The statement came from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a joint
press-conference with Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Answering the question of one of the journalists about the
facilitation of visa regime between Azerbaijan and Turkey, the
Azerbaijani leader said: "As you know, recently the Turkish state
abolished visa regarding citizens off all Turkic speaking states. So,
citizens of all Turkic speaking states can go to Turkey independently,
and we are thankful for this decision. As for Azerbaijan, this issue
has been discussed today. A decision was made to achieve it gradually.
An easier visa regime may be applied on people of a certain category -
businessmen, people of science and well known people. In general, our
certain mechanisms and internal procedures have not been completed
yet. After completion of these procedures, of course, Turkish citizens
will also be able to come to Azerbaijan free of visa. We are working
on this issue. This issue was discussed. The Turkish side understands
Azerbaijan's position on this issue. With joint efforts we will make
important steps towards the solution of this issue."
