MEMBER OF "APOLLO 16" MOON MISSION TOOK PART IN CONFERENCE IN NKR CAPITAL

Yerevan, September 17. /Mediamax/. Charles Duke, a retired US Air Force
brigadier general, and a former United States astronaut for NASA took
part in the "Man and Space" conference in NKR capital Stepanakert on
September 16.
The conference was also attended by Claude Nicollier, the first
astronaut from Switzerland, who has flown on four Space Shuttle
missions.
"Man and Space" conference was dedicated to U.S. astronaut Neil
Armstrong who passed away this August. The conference was organized by
Garik Israelian, Armenian astrophysicist, who lives and works in Spain.
As lunar module pilot for Apollo 16 in 1972 Charles Duke became the
tenth and youngest of the 12 people who have walked on the Moon. A
resident of New Braunfels, Texas, he is currently chairman of the
board of directors of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.
Claude Nicollier has flown on four Space Shuttle missions. His first
spaceflight (STS-46) was in 1992, and his final spaceflight (STS-103)
was in 1999. He took part in two servicing missions to the Hubble Space
Telescope (called STS-61 and STS-103). During his final spaceflight
he participated in a spacewalk, becoming the first European Space
Agency astronaut to do so during a Space Shuttle mission.
