No country has applied to CSTO to join it, but many countries are
concerned about participation in any actions within the frames of
this organization, CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, said
at today's press-conference in Yerevan when asked if this military
and political structure is going to extend.
He also added that at present many neighboring states want to
participate in the joint actions on fighting illegal drug trafficking.
We have been successfully cooperating with more than 20 countries in
this context. "The raising of information safety is on the agenda. We
are also going to create a serious system of collective response
at crisis situations, that may occur as a result of technological
disasters", - he said.
He said not quantity but high quality participants are important
for the CSTO. "Unfortunately, we have got an experience when a
country joined CSTO but did not want to take part in the work of the
organization. Some time later, it left the organization. In fact,
it made us understand that it does not need such security system. We
don't need such partners", - Bordyuzha said meaning Uzbekistan that
left CSTO in June of the current year.
