Assistance to our compatriots living in Syria is the moral duty
of the Armenian people, member of the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) Bureau Vahan Hovhannissyan told
the reporters on Tuesday.
"It is Armenia's duty to help Armenians living in Syria. It is the
state's business what to do but as people we should do everything
possible to help our compatriots," he said, adding that the initiative
has been supported by a number of organizations and considerable work
has already been done.
Hovhannissyan added that there is no need to politicize the initiative,
at the same time stressed that the ARF-D is active participant of it.
Chairperson of the Pan-National Foundation Lilit Galstyan, active
member of the initiative, noted that political forces as well as
individual organizations should join the initiative. She said bank
account has already been opened today, with the first one million
Armenian drams already transferred. She also said a cargo plane with
food will soon head for Aleppo.
