YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS: The agreement on `Establishment of
free trade zone between CIS countries' will create serious
opportunities for increasing the foreign trade volumes with the CIS
countries. It was stated by the representatives of the two biggest
Armenian companies `Spayka' and `Artfood', exporting goods to CIS
countries, commenting on the agreement, validated at the National
Assembly of Armenia, which came into force on September 20 2012.
By the agreement the bilateral limitations will be considerably
reduced, thus contributing to the growth of the exportation indices.
During the previous years along with the liberalized internal
regulation, this is another step for the benefit of the exporter. In
the interview with Armenpress the representatives of the Armenian
exporting companies emphasized the importance of the agreement from
the point of view of new opportunities to integrate into the foreign
markets.
`This is a quite important agreement for the foreign trade
circulation, as our main market is Russia. Yet, the agreement will not
open visible advantages specifically for our company's exportation
processes, as our exported products - agricultural products and waters
- have already been regulated by a special document in the CIS
territory. For the producers, the transfer of the products of which is
carried out by our company, it will have a positive influence, taking
into account several points of the agreement', - said the Head of the
Program Management Department of `Spayka' company Karen Baghdasaryan.
He also stated that it would be more important that Armenia was in one
customs zone with Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, as in this case the
VAT for the exported products will be in one economic zone and paid to
the budget of the Republic of Armenia.
The Head of the Export Department of `Artfood' Company Amur Voskanyan
also considered the influence of the agreement to be quite important.
`The agreement plays a very considerable role for all the exporting
companies. It will have new positive trends in the economy and the
exporters will be more interested in integrating into new markets
under such conditions', - emphasized Amur Voskanyan.
According to Armenpress, several big exporting companies were not even
aware of the agreement, some of them wanted to get acquainted with it
and only then express their opinion.
The agreement on `Establishment of free trade zone between CIS
countries' was signed on October 18 2011 in St. Petersburg. It
provides for facilitation of the economic activities and more than 90%
cancel of the customs fees.
The agreement was signed by Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus,
Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Moldova and Uzbekistan. After the collapse of
the USSR within the framework of several integration projects in 1994
a multilateral agreement on establishing a `Free trade zone' was
developed, which, unfortunately, was not validated. It has been
substituted by the St. Petersburg's agreement. After the signing of
the latter it was not perceived unequivocally, but some experts
qualified the agreement to be historical, as it makes the base of the
new economic integration field in the post-Soviet area.
