STEPANAKERT. - Official Yerevan and official Stepanakert have stated
many times about the ineffectiveness of the PACE Subcommittee on
Nagorno-Karabakh, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) President's Press
Secretary Davit Babayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on PACE
President Jean-Claude Mignon's negative assessment on this
subcommittee.
In his words, Turkey's adverse influence, one-sided approach, and the
attempts to negatively portray the Armenian side are sensed in the
Subcommittee's activities. `Overall, the Subcommittee's activities
were paralyzed,' Babayan stressed, and he noted that the Armenian
parties and the representatives from other countries, alike, have
pointed this out on numerous occasions.
`This is an elementary policy of smear campaign against one of the
parties, [and] that is why the Subcommittee's activities could not
have been effective,' NKR President's Press Secretary remarked.
In his words, if the Subcommittee is not retracted, it will be
necessary to include the Karabakh side in order to make its activities
become effective. `We can speak about effectiveness only after that,'
Davit Babayan stated.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, during his meeting with
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, PACE President
Jean-Claude Mignon had expressed a view that the PACE Subcommittee on
Nagorno-Karabakh does not justify itself.
