YEREVAN. - The equestrian sports fans in Armenia will now have the
opportunity to place bets on the horses and jockeys competing in and
outside Armenia, National Equestrian Federation of Armenia (FEA)
President Hayrapet Hayrapetyan told NEWS.am Sport.
Separately, the French PMU (Pari Mutuel Urbain) bookmaking agency's
partner PMA (Pari Mutuel Armenia) agency of Armenia and FEA signed a
memorandum on cooperation on Saturday, whereby a horse racing betting
system will be established in Armenia.
`PMU expressed a wish to establish a horse racing betting system in
Armenia. Three percent of the overall proceeds from the bets will be
allocated for organizing horse races in Armenia, and ten percent of
the proceeds from the races in Armenia will be allocated to the
National Equestrian Federation of Armenia.
This memorandum will become a contract no later than January 2013.
This is the first phase for the development of the sport [in Armenia].
As a result, we will have horses, financial investments [to], and
development of equestrian sports [in the country],' Hayrapet
Hayrapetyan stated.
