RA NA PRESIDENT RECEIVES THE USAID MISSION DIRECTOR FOR ARMENIA

On September 26 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan, Mission Director
for Armenia for the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID) Karen Hilliard.
Congratulating Mrs Hilliard on the occasion of being appointed Mission
Director for Armenia for the United States Agency for International
Development, Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted and effectively appreciated
the activity of the Agency in Armenia. In the NA President~Rs word,
during the 2-year activity in Armenia the USAID programs have developed
and have turned from mere humanitarian assistance into programs
of long-tern economic development, sustainable social policy and
boosting of democratic reforms. Hovik Abrahamyan highly appreciated
the USAID-RA NA cooperation and emphasized its continuity, noting
that he would do his best in supporting the program.
Karen Hilliard has expressed conviction that from now on the
cooperation with the Armenian Parliament will be effective and has
noted that her goal is not only to keep the level of the existing
cooperation, but also to more develop and deepen it. She has noted that
the NA will implement a four-year cooperation program, which is aimed
at strengthening the capabilities of the parliament, particularly of
the standing committees.
At the meeting other issues relating to further cooperation were
also discussed.
