YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS: The issue of filing a suit
to international courts against Azerbaijan, which justified the
Azerbaijani assassin Ramil Safarov, is currently discussed in Armenia.
This was reported by the Collegial Secretary at the Minister of
Defense Hayk Mukuchyan on September 26 at the press conference held
on the occasion of the 34th birthday anniversary of the Armenian
officer Gurgen Margaryan. "We have not yet applied to international
courts, but currently we are discussing the issue of filing a suit
against Azerbaijan on personal or state level", - stated Mukuchyan,
according to Armenpress.
According to him, the efforts of Azerbaijan to present the Safarov's
deed as conditioned by affect failed. "All the facts prove that the
committed murder was planned in advance. The purchase of the axe,
as well as Safarov's anti-Armenian announcements prove that the
assassination was committed on the national hatred ground", - said
Hayk Mukuchyan.
On February 19 2004 in Budapest Azerbaijani assassin Ramil Safarov,
who axe-murdered Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan while sleeping,
when they were participating in NATO English Language Courses in the
capital of Hungary, was sentenced to life imprisonment without right
to be pardoned for 30 years. On August 31 2012 Safarov was extradited
from Hungary to Azerbaijan and was pardoned by the President Ilham
Aliyev. The murderer was advanced to mayor, provided with a passport,
an apartment and given "national hero".
