YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS: On September 28 in Yerevan the
three-day training seminar for photojournalists was launched jointly
by Armenpress Armenian News Agency and the authoritative Reuters
(Great Britain). "During the coming two days the
journalist-photographers of Armenia will communicate with the leading
international experience, discussing the innovations, which are
available in the field of media and perceive how we move along with
the world, what tendencies we adopt and what we are guided with", -
said the Director of Armenpress News Agency Aram Ananyan.
According to him, with the launch of the training the start of the
events, devoted to the 95th anniversary of the Agency in 2013, is
being announced. "To be competitive in the modern world one should
keep to the best journalistic standards", - stated Ananyan, wishing
"good luck" to the participants of the training.
"Reuters cooperates with all the news agencies, which deal with photo,
video or text information. It is done with the purpose to make their
publications more interesting and we try to assist them in that
issue", - said the Reuters Media Manager of the Photo Department Maria
Filatova. She informed that the training was special, as Reuters had
not organized any educational training in Armenia before.
"This Agency provides the journalists of different fields with the
opportunity to get acquainted with Reuters Photo School, as due to its
long-term activities it has own peculiar working style", - stated
Maria Filatova. She added that due to the quickest response and
attention of Armenpress News Agency the program, which had been
developed months ago, had become a reality.
"Our Agency has 9 photographers in the CIS countries, who work in the
post-Soviet area and highlight the events, taking place there", -
stated the Head of the Reuters Photo Department Grigory Dukor.
According to him, during the seminar the participant photojournalists
will be provided with an opportunity to discuss with their colleagues
how this or that event might be photographed in the most interesting
way. "Watching the photos we will understand how the photograph was
taken and maybe the other participants would like to make better
photos", - added the photojournalist.
The seminar is implemented jointly with Reuters Foundation, which has
been a charitable organization since 1982. It receives its main
resources from Reuters Agency and within the 30 years of its
activities it has indoctrinated more than 8000 journalists from 160
countries of the world.
Established in 1851 Reuters Agency has organized more than 20
trainings for photojournalists in the CIS countries. In Armenia the
training seminar has been launched for the first time.
