Visiting the city of Artashat as the last resort of his Monday regional
tour, former presidential candidate Raffi Hovhannisian called upon the
local population to overcome the existing environment of intimidation.

Addressing policemen who had gathered at the meeting site to
video-record the crowd, the politician asked them to think well before
fulfilling any instruction. "What are you doing guys? This country
is ours, as well as yours. I don't beg for anything, but you are to
think of what instruction you are carrying out," he said.

The opposition Heritage party's leader further warned the policemen
against counting people like sheep in a flock, noting that the practice
has long been considered outdated. "People have won every day, so we
don't have to count their number as that of the sheep in a flock,"
he said. "The Armenian citizen voted against intimidation on February
    18. You did believe in that, so we are now heading towards liberating
our country to prevent it from being split apart," he said.

Hovhannisian, who declares himself the absolute winner in the February
18 presidential election, disputes the voting results, considering
the process fraudulent. After a 21-day hunger-strike, he now conducts
tours to the regions to reaffirm what he claims to be his victory in
    the polls.

Continuing his speech, the former candidate called for President
Serzh Sargsyan's efforts to overcome the evil-tongued environment
surrounding him and admit the people's choice. "Should there be a
false inaugural ceremony, that will be the last stone and the last
divide against the Armenian people," he said, promising to move ahead
    with his popular campaign.
