COMMEMORATIVE MARCH FOR MURDERED PROSHYAN MAYOR

A group of citizens today marched from a Yerevan district to Proshyan
village to attend the funeral of its murdered mayor Hrach Muradyan,
a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun.
The group involved environmentalists, representatives of
Dashnaktsutyun, members of NGOs, Muradyan's friends and schoolchildren,
walked to the the village administration carrying flowers and posters.
Lessons were suspended at the village school and people did not go
to work to participate in the funeral of the village mayor.
Vardan Balyan, a participant of the march, said in this way they
express their attitude to the April 2 shooting death and voice their
dissatisfaction against the system.
"Hrach Muradyan became the next victim of this rotten system," he said.
"We express our protest against the fact that a citizen of Armenia
was assassinated by his compatriot(s), a person who dedicated his
life to the liberation of Artsakh," said Suzan Simonyan.
Muradyan, 50, was shot dead outside the village administration
on Tuesday. On April 4, the police said they had detained several
suspects in connection with the shooting death.
