EX-MAYOR OF YEREVAN HAS NO WISH TO BECOME PREMIER, HRAPARAK DAILY SAYS
YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. Ex-mayor of Yerevan, current vice-president
of Russian Gasprombank Karen Karapetyan has no wish to become Armenia's
prime-minister, "Hraparak" (Square) newspaper says.
Karapetyan arrived in Yerevan to attend Armenian president Sargsyan's
inauguration ceremony.
When asked by Hraparak reporter whether it's possible to refuse to
take up a premier's post, Karapetyan said "imagine it's possible".
Under the Armenian constitution article 55, president Serzh Sargsyan
accepted the resignation of the government. The president is to
appoint a new premier based on distribution of parliament seats and
consultations with parliament factions, within 10 days after accepting
the resignation. The new cabinet is formed within 20 days after the
appointment of the premier. -0-
