TRADE WITH CZECHS SHOULD BE INCREASED, CLAIMS ARMENIAN FM
YEREVAN, April 11. /ARKA/. Trade turnover between Armenia and Czech
Republic was only $22 million in 2012, this means efforts should be
made to increase economic indicators from both sides, Armenia's acting
foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan said in opening Armenian-Czech
business forum in Yerevan Thursday.
Nalbandyan said the economic interaction between the countries is
less advanced than the political cooperation. The acting FM expressed
hope that some more companies will join the list of Armenia-based
enterprises with Czech capital.
Nalbandyan said that free trade zones are being created in Armenia and
large foreign investments are recorded in the last years particularly
in rapidly growing IT sector.
Armenia's investment potential is good also in other fields, such as
road construction, hydro and nuclear power, light industry and food
industry, according to the minister.
Favorable conditions are set to develop tourism in Armenia. Among
factors that may contribute to tourism development in the countries
Nalbandyan mentioned the direct Yerevan-Prague flight, simplified
visa regime and historical and cultural heritage.
"Armenia and Czechia have had positive experience of cooperation over
decades, and I am confident it may serve as a good basis for mutually
advantageous projects between business communities of our friendly
countries", Nalbandyan said.
Armenia-Czech trade turnover amounted to $21.8 million in 2012,
Armenian Development Agency reports. Exports from Armenia to Czechia
totaled $1.48mln and imports were $20.4 million in the period. -0--
