IF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY RESORTS TO WAR
It became known yesterday that the state of Maine, U.S., recognized the
independence of Karabakh. It's good news. Although recognition is still
at the level of states, and friendship groups are the best to expect
at the national level for the time being, the process is positive.
In the meantime, independent Karabakh is interested in one of the
heroes of the war, Vahan Badasyan, after he made a speech on Freedom
Square in one of the recent rallies of the opposition.
The NKR Deputy Prime Minister, Vahan Badasyan's brother-in-arms,
retired general Arthur Aghabekyan condemned Badasyan's speech on
Artsakh Television and described the rallies on Freedom Square as a
threat to Artsakh.
Vahan Badasyan is apparently viewed as part of this threat with his
business which, if compared with the businesses of different and
various generals, the so-called participants of the war, is a drop
of water in the sea.
Most probably, it is an opportunity to get this extra drop, which
the government of independent Artsakh is busy doing.
Is is symptomatic that the process overlaps with the act of recognition
in Maine. Apparently, the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is
entering a new phase - recognition. For the time being it is at a
low level but the tendency is rather vividly expressed.
However, it should not be ruled out that the international community
may resort to local or more or less extensive military action, a war,
in order to change the level, bring the recognition to the level
of nations.
It is certainly the least desirable option that must be avoided.
However, in order to avoid it, or to reduce losses, it is necessary
to build a state where every citizen will have a sense of ownership
rather than being considered property within that state.
In addition, it must be done independent from the possibility of
war because the 21st century is a period of economic, cultural,
demographic, psychological wars. If an armed war is a matter of being
or not being, the other wars go on constantly and require continuous
change.
The government of independent Artsakh needs to take care about the
quality of the state while the quality of break baked in the bakery
run by Vahan Badasyan can wait.
It is good that Maine has recognized Artsakh but it is worth nothing
if Artsakh does not recognize the independence of its citizens, and
the value of independence is perceived as a holiday attribute which is
used to legitimize the sea of property of those in power and catalyzing
of the sea of patience of the society servicing their property.
