ARMENIAN OPPOSITION LEADER ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF NEW ARMENIA PUBLIC MOVEMENT

YEREVAN.- A national citizens' summit "New Armenia" is convened upon
the constitutional demand of the Armenian people, Raffi Hovannisian
said.
Hovannisian, a former presidential candidate and leader of Heritage
party, is holding a forum of his supporters.
Addressing the participants, he said they would elaborate a strategy
of struggling against the authorities for them not to use force
against people.
"Serzh Sargsyan cannot imagine that people showing discontent with the
authorities are not only those gathering at Liberty Square. They live
in the most remote parts of the country and even in the Diaspora,"
Hovannisian said.
He also accused the authorities of using the help of provocateurs
who turn a peaceful march into a scuffle in a minute.
Leader of Heritage parties believes there are numerous methods to
struggle against the ruling regime: from the legitimate demands of
the people and up to the protest actions.
"The government must realize that they either need to serve the people
or to leave the country," Hovannisian emphasized.
In the end of the meeting Hovannisian promised to present a draft
declaration of further actions in the fight against the government.
Head of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary faction Armen Rustamyan
was present at the forum.
