HURRIYET MOCKS FALSE TOLERANCE OF TURKISH AUTHORITIES: "ONE MIGHT THINK THAT WORD "ARMENIAN" IS NOT USED AS SWEARWORD"

A Turkish court recently sentenced world-renowned Turkish pianist
Fazil Say to a 10-month suspended jail term for anti-Islamic tweets.

Fazil Say, 42, who has performed with major orchestras around the
world in places including New York, Berlin and Tokyo, said during
hearings that the accusations against him went "against universal
    human rights and laws."

Daily Hurriyet's columnist Ahmet Hakan commented on it, criticizing and
mocking the Turkish government that imitates protection of religious,
    national and cultural values.

"The audience might think that (1) respect for believers is at the
highest level in our country, (2) the word "Armenian" is not used as a
swearword, (3) there is no neglectful and humiliating attitude towards
atheists, (4) every ideology, religion and value enjoys respect, (5)
those calling an entire city "gavurs" are disgraced," the columnist
writes ironically, criticizing the atmosphere of intolerance in Turkey.
