Politicians holding rallies in Armenian capital before election to city council

Taron Margaryan, number one on the ruling Armenia Republican Party's
election list, has held a campaign meeting in Nork-Marash
    neighbourhood.

In a video broadcast by the Public Television's main news programme,
Margaryan was seen as saying that his party was supporting people. "I
am one of you. I am sure that the Yerevan people, Nork-Marash
residents, will vote for the team that was by the side of citizens,"
    Margaryan was shown as saying.

Representatives of the Prosperous Armenia Party, having second largest
faction in parliament, said at their campaign meeting that the city
government should be changed with support from business. At a meeting
with businesspeople from Yerevan, faction secretary MP Naira Zohrabyan
underlined the importance of small and medium enterprises in the city,
as well as another MP from the same faction, Gurgen Arsenyan. Vardan
Oskanyan, who tops the party list, underlined the importance of more
    harmonic development in the city.

Orinats Yerkir (Law-Governed Country) party's top man on the list
Armen Yeritsyan spoke at a campaign meeting in Davitashen
neighbourhood in Yerevan about main problems facing the city
infrastructure. "I can see that there are easily solvable problems on
the local level, problems, that could be solved on the level of
neighbourhood and municipalities," he said, urging for more effective
    governance in the city.

Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) - Dashnaktsutyun
representatives in Malatya-Sebastia neighbourhood said that changes in
the Yerevan authorities could bring about change of power in the whole
of Armenia. "An opposition Mayor could really be a strong balancing
factor in relations with the current authorities," MR Armen Rustamyan
from ARF said at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Barev Yerevan (Hello Yerevan !) opposition coalition
continued its campaign in Yerevan's Arabkir neighbourhood with
supporters and candidates distributing leaflets and holding short
    meetings.
