Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian held a march from Yerevan's
Freedom Square to the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims
(Tsitsernakaberd).
"We must learn from our mistakes. We are demanding our lands, churches
and restoration of our rights from Turkey. This does not mean, however,
that we cannot ask ourselves what happened when the Armenian people
lost their homeland and lands," he said.
The reason is that "we were not united or fully united." And new
losses should be expected if things go on like this, Hovannisian said.
With respect to Armenia's foreign policy, he told journalists that
President Serzh Sargsyan's foreign policy is as wrong as his domestic
policy.
He called for the withdrawal of Armenia's signature from the
Armenian-Turkish protocols.
The world will never recognize the Armenian Genocide if Armenia is
not consistent in defending its national interests.
As regards his regional trips, Hovannisian noted that the Gavar
regional authorities prohibited the provision of halls for public
meetings.
