PRESIDENT SARGSYAN AND PROSPEROUS ARMENIA PARTY LEADER AGREE ON SECOND PLACE? - NEWSPAPER

YEREVAN. - The ruling Republican Party (RPA) and the non-governmental
Prosperous Armenian Party (PAP) have reached an agreement with respect
to the forthcoming capital city Yerevan Council elections, Zhamanak
daily reports.
"This refers to the quotas for distributing election bribes. It is
known that the RPA and PAP leaders, [President] Serzh Sargsyan and
Gagik Tsarukyan, met last week.
According to our information, they also discussed matters related to
these elections and, as a result of the reached agreements, PAP was
permitted to distribute [election] bribes to some extent.
At the same time, Tsarukyan expressed a wish that PAP, [and] not the
[opposition] Heritage Party, should be in second place. According to
rumors circulating in the political backstage, Serzh Sargsyan made
it understood that they [that is, PAP] may have [such] hope and [may]
work in this direction," Zhamanak writes.
