Sevan Hajinian
Dear Friends,
We hope all of you are well.
We would like to update you on recent developments regarding Sevan
Hajinian's health and fundraising efforts.
Post surgery, she has been doing very well. She is fortunate to have such
excellent doctors to take care of her. She is recovering nicely and has
almost regained her normal activities. She even stopped taking the harmful
medications (Percocet and other narcotics) which were prescribed by the
Canadian doctors for the past 15 years.
In the first week of May, she will be travel to New York to remove the
filter installed in December, during surgery to prevent blood clotting. She
will also see her doctor for a follow-up.
Regarding our benefactors' tax receipts, everyone who has contributed to
her surgery funds in 2012 should have received the receipt from the Holy
Trinity Armenian Church in Toronto. If you have not received your receipt,
please contact us at:
[email protected], so that we can follow up and secure your
receipt in time for this year's tax cycle.
In previous updates, we have talked about the fundraising drive, the
accumulated amount, and the partial payments made to the hospital and the
doctors. As you know, the hospital and the doctors were very generous in
reducing the cost of the surgery and the hospitalization. Accordingly,
after the $US120,000 partial payment (made in Dec. 2012), we still owe the
hospital and the doctors around $US35,000.
To avoid difficulty with the financial department of the hospital, we are
continuing the fundraising to pay the remaining balance before Sevan's next
trip to New York.
In light of the overwhelming success of the surgery and the unprecedented
benefits Sevan received, we ask you to circulate this update to your
friends and family members and urge them to participate in the fundraising
drive. We hope all of them, as you have been, will participate in this
successful philanthropic story with a happy ending.
We would like to take the opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation
and gratitude to Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian, the board of Holy Trinity
Armenian Church, and the staff of the church for their solidarity and
support in the last 14 months. We could not have brought this
heart-wrenching story to its joyful ending without their generous and
principled participation.
Once we pay the balance and conclude the fundraising, we will share the
final balance sheet of the fundraising and the expenses with you.
Furthermore, we will publicize the list of all our benefactors, the
volunteers who helped us, our friends in mainstream and Armenian media, and
will acknowledge the faith-based and civil society organizations which were
an instrumental part of this successful story.
Your kind and generous help is greatly appreciated.
