ARMENIA TO ADOPT A NEW LAW ON RIGHTS OF THE DISABLED

Yerevan/Mediamax/. The Armenian government approved the draft law on
"Protection of Rights of the Disabled and Their Social Engagement"
today.Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia Artem Asatryan
said that the draft law had been long discussed at the parliamentary
hearings as well.
According to the Minister, the law which is currently in force
was adopted in 1993 and doesn't reflect the current realities.Artem
Asatryan noted that the draft law was brought in line with the policy
pursued by the government and requirements of the UN Convention.The
draft law also regulates issues related to stimulation of employment
of the disabled.
