During today's meeting with the residents of the demolished houses
of the 33rd district the prime minister promised that their housing
issue will be resolved as soon as possible. Note that some residents
have been waiting for their new apartments for 7, others for 5.5 years.
Glendale Hills has signed a contract with the residents, dug two pits
and left. The prime minister went to see the pits today and answered
the questions of the residents of the demolished district. Some
people continue to live in their half-ruined houses. They are afraid
of abandoning their houses, fearing the destiny of their former
neighbors who have had to live in rented apartments for so many years
now. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said they will help Glendale Hills
to finish the construction of the building near the Winery and begin
the construction of the block of apartments in the 33rd district. He
told them that Glendale Hills is having financial problems, and 200
citizens are not able to get their apartments. "The government has
to interfere to make sure that you get your apartments as soon as
possible. Now we first help Glendale Hills to fix its financial issues,
we have already undertaken steps, they have received funding," Tigran
Sargsyan said. The prime minister noted that about 30 families will get
apartments in the building near the winery this year, others will get
apartments in 2014. In 2014 construction of one block of apartments
will start at the 33rd district. The residents say though that they
do not believe any pledges because all they have had during so many
years were pledges. "As soon as they start construction, all confidence
will be restored, you will be able to come and tell them that you do
not want to wait for two years and ask them to give you your money,
they will say they have other buyers, will sell the apartment and give
you the money. If they fail their duties, their right to ownership
will move to the government," the prime minister said. The site has
turned to a dump. The representatives of Glendale Hills promised the
prime minister to clean the area and build a fence around it.
