Azerbaijan's regular ceasefire violations on the line of contact
demonstrate that Baku is not ready for peace talks. Furthermore,
it does its best to torpedo the peace process, Eduard Sharmazanov,
Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, representative of the ruling
Republican Party of Armenia Faction, told ArmInfo when commenting
on the recent cases of ceasefire violation near Tavush region that
wounded 2 soldiers.
Sharmazanov qualified Azerbaijan's actions as a walkout in protest
against the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. "The statements made during
the recent meeting of Elmar Mammadyarov and Ahmet Davutoglu in Baku
were a dig at the co-chairs. Instead of that, Azerbaijan should have
implemented its commitments", said Sharmazanov.
He added that Armenia wants no military settlement of the Karabakh
problem, because such a scenario is not only fraught with huge losses
for both sides, but it is also incapable to resolve the conflict in
the long-term outlook. "Azerbaijan should put aside all its illusions
and hold constructive talks", he said.
