ZHOGHOVURD: ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT'S GAS PRICE SUBSIDY PLAN HANGING IN AIR
09:33 08.08.13
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan's promise to subsidize the natural
gas tariffs by 30% still remains hanging in the air despite repeated
statements to finish negotiations with Russia until July, says
the paper.
The authorities are still silent on the plan three month after Minister
of Energy Armen Movsisyan said the process will be finalized in less
than two months. A spokesperson for the Ministry, Lusine Harutyunyan,
has told the paper that their negotiations are still progress. "As
soon as there is news, the Ministry will make it public," she was
quoted as saying.
But the paper says, citing its sources, that the talks will very
probably finish in the course of President Serzh Sargsyan's scheduled
visit to Moscow in mid-August. "It's quite possible, though, that the
process will be dragged under the circumstances. As for the mechanisms
of subsidizing the prices of the natural gas consumed over this price,
that still remains absolutely unknown," adds the paper.
