The nature protection ministry's young employee, whocommitted suicide
from his office's window Tuesday afternoon, is said to have resorted
to such a step after an unpleasant conversation with a girl.
The police and ambulance workers, who went to the scene after the
incident, found a pool of lake which was cleared about an hour later,
says the paper.
The man, Hayk Hayrapetyan, had earlier attracted the Armenian TV
audience's attention at the popular show Who Wants to be a Millionaire,
where he won 500,000 Drams four years ago, notes the paper.
It says further that Hayrapetyan, 22, was a remote relation of Aram
Harutyunyan, the minister of nature protection. The conversation, which
is thought to have led to the suicide, was very long and unpleasant,
according to the paper.
Several sources have claimed that the young man's mobile was still
on at the moment he threw himself down from the room, which was
reportedly on the fifth floor.
"We were sitting here at the department. He was in good spirits. We
had talked to him in the morning and didn't notice any change of mood.
Then he left the room, and probably went to the upper floor, as we
learned later. We saw him no more," an employee of the ministry,
Samvel Galstyan, has told the paper.
The incident has shocked the entire staff, with no one having ever
thought that Hayk, a leading language specialist, could have made
such a step, adds the paper.
