Western Queens Gazette, NY
Aug 28 2013
On Saturday, September 7, Oceania Street in Bayside (by the Horace
Harding Expressway), will be transformed into an amazing street
festival - complete with ethnic food, live entertainment, vendors
and games/rides for the children. Hosted by the Armenian Church of
the Holy Martyrs, this annual festival, which attracts thousands from
11:00 a.m. to dusk, will be an afternoon to remember. This year the
festival promises to be even greater than in the past because the
church is also celebrating its 55th anniversary at the same time. The
festivities will include all day entertainment by international star,
Robert Chilingirian, performances from the Holy Martyrs Aradzani and
Hye Bar Dance groups, the Antranig Dance Ensemble, the Greek Samos
Society Pythagoras, the Vanush Khanmiryan Dance Academy of New York,
singers Kristy and Julie Asriyan and more surprises. Vendors will
be lining the street selling their wares, their Hye Market will be
selling ethnic delicacies and their Attic Treasures booth will have
lots to browse and buy. Savor rich Middle Eastern food - appetizers,
assorted kebabs and mouth-watering homemade desserts - while spending
a great day outdoors. Admission to the festival is free and there
will be plenty of open air and covered seating for all. The rain date
is Sunday, September 8. Those interested in vendor opportunities or
further information, can contact the church office at 718-225-0235
or visit www.holy-martyrs.org.
