PRESIDENT: MINIMUM SALARY IN ARMENIA TO REACH AMD 90,000 BY 2017
YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. The minimum salary size in Armenia will
rise to AMD 90,000 in 2017, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said
as met with the education and science ministry's officials today,
the government's press office reports.
Under the amended law the minimum salary will be raised by 30% on
July 1, 2013 to AMD 45,000.
This increase prompted allocation of additional AMD 6 billion from
the government budget.
The press office quoted the president as saying that in 2014 the
government will embark on the policy of annual increase of the minimum
salary and of payment for labor as a whole.
The new salary calculation system will be introduced in Armenia
on January 1, 2014, and will need extra AMD 50 billion from the
government budget.
These steps will be taken as part of the government's 2013-2017
program, under which the minimum salary will be doubled already
in 2017.
"I can say that senior specialists at ministries will earn AMD 200,000
to 280,000 a month, and chiefs of ministries' divisions, if I am not
mistaken, AMD 280,000 to 350,000 depending on service record," Sargsyan
said. "Bonuses paid from saved money may be added to this sum."
The president said that salaries in Armenia will grow to the size
which will enable public sector's employees cater for their families'
minimal needs.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia,
the average nominal salary in the country was recorded
at AMD 144,850 in Jan-July 2013 - 3.2% year-on-year
