French MPs visit Gyumri, pay tribute to earthquake victims

Several members of the French parliament, French Ambassador to Armenia
Henri Reynaud, and some members of the Armenian National Assembly
Armenia-France Friendship Group paid a visit Saturday to Armenia's
City of Gyumri.
They came to the city on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the
devastating earthquake that struck Armenia on December 7, 1988, and to
pay their respects to the victims of this natural disaster.
Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan highly appreciated France's
contribution to the strengthening of friendly ties between the two
nations.
For their part, the French delegation members presented their
activities and their projects planned in the foreseeable future.
Subsequently, the French MPs awarded Balasanyan with the medal of the
French parliament.
After their meeting, the Gyumri mayor and the French friends visited
and placed flowers to the earthquake memorial.
