Losses bigger than achievements - Hayrikyan sums up the passing year

    15:30 / 21.12.2013

When Armenia was to make its system of values closer to the European
one, the authorities took the route to Russia, leader of National
Self-Determination Union party Paruyr Hayrikyan told the reporters
today. In his words the history is repeating while if it was studied
well the same mistakes would not have been repeated.

He said the negative consequences of the membership to Customs Union
and the loss of positive ones in case of choosing the EU shocked the
Armenian people with all the political forces - Heritage, Republic,
Free Democrats, National Self-Determination Union parties coming up
    against the decision.

Hayrikyan says Armenia does not know the values over which the Customs
Union member countries are consolidated and it is not clear whether
they will accept Armenia or not.

`According to the polls we have conducted, only 23% of the people are
for membership to the Customs Union while the 70% are for the EU. But
in very short period of time with the efforts of the ruling party the
    percentage drastically changed,' Hayrikyan said.
Speaking about the 2013 achievements, Hayrikyan noted that even if
there are any achievements they are very small on the background of
the losses. `We cannot speak of achievements today,' he said.
