GALAXY TO OPEN PRESEASON WITH FRIENDLY VS. ARMENIAN CHAMPIONS

A team renowned for their international stars will be opening up
their 2014 preseason campaign with international opposition.
The Los Angeles Galaxy announced on Monday that they will play their
first match of the 2014 calendar year in a friendly at the StubHub
Center on Feb. 8 against FC Shirak of Armenia. Shirak are the defending
champions of the Armenian Premier League and currently sit in second
place in this year's standings.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides and the first
time ever that the Galaxy have hosted a team from Armenia. Shirak are
located in the Armenian city Gyumri, not far from Armenia's western
border with Turkey.
