Ali Gasanov, head of the socio-political section of the Azerbaijani
Presidential Administration, protested against Armenia's joining the
Customs Union because Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 districts in the area
remained occupied by Armenian soldiers.
He reminded that resolutions and decisions of the UN, OSCE and other
international organizations recognized the territory as occupied
by an aggressor. Thus, membership in the Customs Union or any other
similar organization will only be possible after withdrawal from the
occupied territories.
Becoming a member of the Customs Union would cause a dispute about
territories and borders of Armenia.
