GEORGIAN FM ON ABKHAZIAN RAILWAY
Politics - Thursday, 31 January 2013, 13:04
Prime Time held an interview with the Georgian foreign minister
Maia Panjikidzeh. The reporter asked her to comment on the
Georgian PM Ivanishvili's statement on the possible opening of
Russia-Georgia-Armenia railway for which the Georgian prime minister
has underwent strong criticism. She noted that the railway is a
complex issue which needs a close study. Most importantly, she
noted, the railway cannot be operated in prejudice of Georgia and
its friends. The economic and political feasibility of the railway
must be studied first, how it will contribute to the improvement of
relations between Georgia and Russia and stability in the region. She
concluded that the interests of Georgia are primary to the decision
on opening the railway.
