Suspect in murder dies during interrogation
ST. PETERSBURG, February 3 (Itar-Tass) - A suspect in organisation of
a contract murder of the Leningrad region's Vsevolzhsky District Chief
Architect Eduard Akopyan died during an interrogation at the police,
supposedly of a acute heart failure, the region's police said on
Sunday.
The man of 39 was detained on Sunday morning at St. Petersburg's
Pulkovo airport as he was trying to fly to Mineralny Vody. The police
begins investigation into the death of the suspect.
`The man was taken to the criminal police for an interrogation. The
suspect's behaviour was not adequate, he threatened throwing himself
out of the window. The police did not manage to start questioning him,
as the man fainted. An ambulance was called in. While it was coming,
the police were providing emergency first aid. However, the doctors
who arrived there fixed the death, supposedly of an acute heart
failure. External injuries on the body of the deceased were not
detected,' the local police said in the statement published on Sunday.
Eduard Akopyan of 51 was shot dead in the city of Vsevolzhsk on
January 29. The investigation says at about 20:00 Moscow time he got
to the office of the company where his wife worked to pick her up. In
half an hour he went to the street. Some time later, his wife found
him lying on the ground in the blood. Akopyan died in the ambulance
car from the fire shot in his head. Investigators initiated
proceedings on charges of a murder.
