Russia's Kommersant daily has interviewed Serzh Sargsyan, presenting
him as the former and new president of Armenia.
Ara Papian, Director of Modus Vivendi Center, Armenia's former
Ambassador to Canada, says the opinions expressed in the press should
not be taken as the official position of Moscow.
By calling Sargsyan former and new President the newspaper probably
meant to say that after re-election Serzh Sargsyan will pursue an
updated policy," Mr Papian told A1+.
The political scientist also believes that Serzh Sargsyan will review
his policy if he is elected for a second term. "Perhaps he will not
depend on oligarchs so much and will try to change something," he said.
The Russian newspaper called Serzh Sargsyan ~Qnew and former President'
based on the results of the latest Gallup survey which says that 66
% of electors are going to cast their votes in favor of the acting
President.
"They say "Money talks!" You only have to pay and Gallup will say
you have 99 percent of votes. We have all passed through it. We all
know that Gallup is not the former organization we used to know,"
he stressed.
Ara Papian says polls do not portray the reality in true colours.
"Yes, Serzh Sargsyan has serious chances to be re-elected, but our
problems are not personified. We have much more serious issues to
solve," he said.
The survey was conducted by Baltic Surveys /The Gallup Organization
at the initiative of ArmeNews TV.
