The activists of the civil group Pre-parliament have voiced concerns
over the possible lease of pastures in Armenia's Syunik region to
the neighboring Iran.
The group has condemned the plan, considering it an attempt of
treachery aimed to satisfy personal demands at the expense of national
interests.
"The threat of eventually losing the Homeland is each reasonable
Armenian's primary concern over the deal. The hazards of land erosion
and desertification, the threats to cattle and human health, the
prospect of diminishing means of subsistence also cause concerns,
but they are pushed to the background under these circumstances,"
reads the group's statement issued in this connection.
