PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian government will install Persian-language
signs at Meghri-Yerevan border customs to boost Iranian tourists'
inflow. Guide-books, road maps and other information have also been
published to facilitate the Iranian tourists' travel in Armenia,
Deputy Economy Minster Ara Petrosyan said.
With the same goal, the government allowed the head of the State
Revenue Committee to provide Duty Free Alliance company with a
territory of 800 square meters at Meghri border customs. The company
plans to build a duty-free store and a warehouse on the territory
provided.
Last year, during Nowruz celebrations, a slump in Iranian tourist
inflow was reported due to dollar deal restrictions resulting from
international sanctions.
However, as Mr Petrosyan noted, after the restriction were lifted,
the travel to Armenia resumed, with a major inflow expected this year.
