ARMENIA RECORDS 2,026 CASES OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN 2012

YEREVAN.- Armenia registered 2,026 cases of violence against women in
2012, representative of chief criminal investigation department said.
Colonel Nelli Duryan told reporters four murders and one case of
incitement to suicide were registered during this period.
Domestic violence makes one third of all cases, she said, adding that
often women are unwilling to report about the cases considering it
a family affair.
During the same period, 216 cases of violence against minors were
registered, 15 of them domestic violence cases.
