CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION LAUNCHES SIMPLIFIED VOTER LISTS VERIFICATION SYSTEM
YEREVAN, February 5. / ARKA /. The Central Election Commission (CEC)
of Armenia has launched a simplified voter lists verification system
on its website at www.elections.am, CEC chairman Tigran Mukuchyan
said Tuesday.
"By typing of a person name you can get complete information about who
is registered at a concrete apartment or house," Mukuchyan said. He
said this system will allow everyone to fully monitor the lists, and,
if necessary, apply to relevant bodies to report inaccuracies.
According to Mukuchyan, a voter lists verification system is available
also on the police website, but the search for concrete information
could be done by downloading the file, which takes a lot more time.
The February 18 election will be contested by eight candidates -
the incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, former prime minister
Hrant Bagratian, ex-foreign minister Raffi Hovhanesian, a Soviet
time dissident Paruyr Hayrikyan, former foreign minister of Karabakh
Arman Melikyan, a political analyst Andrias Ghukasyan, a businessman
Vartan Sedrakian and Aram Harutyunyan, leader of a small National
Unity party. -0- 16:37 05.02.2013
