Chairman of the World Armenian Congress and Union of Armenians of
Russia, Russian citizen Ara Abrahamyan underlined the importance of
voting on Yerkir Media television because the president elect is a
reason for being proud, he said. Abrahamyan said proud of Armenia
and the Armenian language.
Ara Abrahamyan's pride is unique and almost invulnerable. For instance,
the statement of the Russian TV commentator Leontief that Armenia
cannot exist without Russia didn't wound Ara Abrahamyan's pride. For
whatever reason, he did not issue a statement on behalf of the World
Armenian Congress and Union of Armenians of Russia calling Leontief
to refrain from offending the Armenians.
Ara Abrahamyan's pride is not wounded even when the Eurasian official
Viktor Khristenko compares Armenia with a Russian province stating
that Armenia can be an exclave. No statement was issued in this
relation either. Meanwhile, Khristenko's statement was an answer to
Serzh Sargsyan's remark which was a clear hint to Russia that no step
against the interests of the partner, in this case Armenia, can be
made. The point was about selling weapons to Azerbaijan. Russia and
Belarus supply weapon to Azerbaijan.
Almost an unprecedented thing happened, the Armenian president dared
to make a blunt remark to Russia. Ara Abrahamyan who is so proud of
Armenia should have been the first person to support this statement
but he did not utter a word, which means his pride was not wounded,
and Serzh Sargsyan was left alone in Moscow despite Abrahamyan's
pride and the numerous organizations serving it.
Of course, this is not only Abrahamyan's problem but of those 2 million
Armenians living in Russia. It is the biggest Armenian community in the
world but it is also the most faceless one in political terms. Populous
communities in foreign countries are usually a resource for Armenia to
render the relations with those countries more effective. But in the
case of Russia, the members of the community remind hostages which
are used as a weapon against Armenia.
Of course, the Armenian authorities have a big share of
responsibility. In the result of its economic policy remittances from
Russia are the base of the economy of Armenia.
But the first faces of the Armenian community of Russia are also
responsible, such as Ara Abrahamyan and others who have surrendered
themselves to the Kremlin and are proud of Armenia in line with the
Kremlin's interests.
It is not right to accuse the Kremlin if the point is not about a
Caucasian strategy. Moscow is not to blame because the effort of the
Armenian community to self-organize differently has not been seen yet.
In other words, the Armenian community and its so-called "elite"
have never expressed a wish or willingness to do or to be more to
enable us to blame Moscow for breaking their promise.
