Armenia's Presidential candidate Arman Melikyan is to come up with
an important statement on February 13 and will simplify the existing
political field. And why tomorrow and not today, Melikyan noted that
it is his strategy.
"I will offer both the public and candidates to clearly decide the
role of each and what goal they have pursued, it is necessary to
simplify this field," he said at a news conference today, stressing
that the elections are not legal.
"It has been impossible to ensure conduction of legal elections. My
proposal to prevent the frauds was refused by the Central Election
Commission and it is the direct reflection of the existing political
situation, Armenia's paralytic state," he said, noting that it is
necessary to get prepared to a lasting process.
"Our state has one head which is not being leaned on the citizen. We
are to face rather difficult times, the people are psychologically
broken. The ties will broke and the authorities will go through their
way, the people will remain disoriented and this will be the biggest
issue. More probably, they will wait for assistance from outside,
as they do not have such inside," he said.
Asked why the proposal of united candidate did not relate to Arman
Melikyan, the presidential candidate said because he was not and will
never be in group politics as he knows the scenarios and the path they
have chosen. "Paruyr Hayrikyan, Hrant Bagratyan and Raffi Hovhannisian
are called to ensure the illusion of legality of elections," he said.
Melikyan said he will present his position and study more clearly
tomorrow, but opened some brackets, "Stemming from the information we
have, in case of best and utmost participation, in case of 80% voter
turnout, only 1.200.000 will participate in the voting. This is the
best forecast. 65% of the 1.5 million that left Armenia have right to
participate in the polls and 76% in Armenia. We are going to publish
the survey on how many people may participate in the voting in near
future," he said, adding that in extremely disappointed condition,
the number of voters may be 1 million. The candidate stressed that the
Central Election Commission does not want to undertake any steps in
that direction which comes to prove that it all is being implemented
on state level.
