YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS: Neither Karabakh, nor Armenia have
ever politicized issue of Stepanakert airport and are not going to
do it. As reports Armenpress this was declared by Armenian Foreign
Minister Edward Nalbandian in Tbilisi when answering the question of
Azerbaijani Public Television.
"First of all, there is the statement of OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs
concerning the opening of Nagorno-Karabakh's airport. That statement
urges sides not to politicize the opening of airport. With its daily
statement Azerbaijan is doing that, thus, violating its commitments
to the Co-Chairs. Second, is that Co-Chairs urged not to use force
or threat of it over civil airplanes. Neither Karabakh, nor Armenia
have ever threatened civil airplanes. You know that Co-Chairs have
also noted, that opening of Stepanakert airport must not prejudge
the status of Nagorno-Karabakh," Nalbandian noted.
Armenian Foreign Minister underlined that neither Karabakh, nor
Armenia had ever connected exploitation of Stepanakert airport
with the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as with
Nagorno-Karabakh status.
"It has been numerously stated on state level, both in Armenia and
Nagorno-Karabakh, that exploitation of Stepanakert airport has only
humanitarian and civil purpose. It's a must to see things the way
they are and not fuel the situation with statements which contradict
approaches of international community expressed by OSCE Minsk group,"
Nalbandian said.
