The UN Security Council held an open debate Tuesday on the protection
    of civilians in armed conflict.

Addressing the event, Armenia's Ambassador to UN, Karen Nazaryan,
expressed a concern by the deteriorating humanitarian situation in
Syria and, also, expressed a deep concern by the situation of the
Syrian-Armenian community. He added that Armenia continues to receive
    refuges from Syria.

Reflecting on the Azerbaijani FM's irresponsible statements that
were made prior to the aforesaid debate, Ambassador Nazaryan informed
that the time has come to replace the rhetoric of propaganda and the
accusations by constructive steps that will contribute to a peaceful
    settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

As per Nazaryan, Armenia joins the position, according to which the
UN Security Council needs to adopt a more active approach toward
preventing and reacting to the attacks against civic institutions
and facilities, and calls upon Azerbaijan to stop such attacks,
including its threats of destroying civil aircrafts.

In this context, Armenia's ambassador once again drew the attention of
the Security Council to the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs
have repeatedly urged the parties to the Karabakh conflict to implement
    confidence-building measures.

In closing, Karen Nazaryan informed that Armenia remains committed to
the Karabakh peace process, and also noted that the key issues need
to be resolved by solely pacific means, and based on the precept of
    international law.
