Ziya Mammadov: `Until Armenia liberates Azerbaijan's occupied
territories, it will not be able to use BTK'

Tbilisi. NIzami Mammadov - APA-Economics. Today, a press conference
was held in Tbilisi after meeting of Transport Ministers of
member-countries of Eastern Partnership Program.
According to APA's Georgian bureau, the press conference was attended
by member-countries of Eastern Partnership program.
The conference was opened by Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Economy
and Sustainable Development of Georgia. Thereafter, the ministers of
transport answered the questions of journalists. Azerbaijani Minister
of Transport Ziya Mammadov told journalists: `This project will
connect Europe with Asia. This is a new project. After this important
project, we will implement larger project by crossing through
Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. This is an automobile project that
will stretch to London. This project was included as one of the 10
projects of America. Middle-East countries are also interested in the
project'.
`Because of winter, our specialists conduct preparatory works for
continuation of the construction. The construction of railway will
continue when as soon as the weather is well. The problems on the
projects are resolved by the heads of three countries. This project is
supported by Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia. We'll hold meeting of
Coordination Council wit Georgia. We'll fix additional budget for
construction and submit to the state for financing'.
Answering the question `Can Armenia use BTK project after launch of
it?', Armenian Deputy Minister of Transport Artash Avetisyan noted:
`We'll use this railway as soon as possible'.
Azerbaijani Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov commented: `This
project is constructed by initiative and budget of Azerbaijan. Until
Armenia liberates Azerbaijan's occupied territories, it will not be
able to use BTK. This can be realized by agreement of the three
countries'.
Commenting on efforts of Armenians on launch of Khojaly Airport, EC
Vice-President, European Commissioner for Transport Issues Siim Kallas
noted that EU has not any relation to it.
