Armenian government schedules Yerevan city council election for May 5
YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. Armenian government approved the date of
the regular elections to Council of Elders (city council) of Yerevan
to be held on May 5, 2013.
Yerevan city council consists of 65 members elected for four years.
The mayor of the city is elected by elders. Under the law, candidates
for mayor are nominated by factions in the Council of Elders.
The current mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan was unanimously elected
to the post on November 15, 2011.
